Proper storage can extend the freshness of kale. Keeping kale in the crisper drawer of your refrigerator is a great option. By the way, we recommend not cleaning it before storing it. Any moisture will hasten leaf rot. If you strongly prefer to wash your kale before storing, here are the steps.
Fill a basin or large bowl halfway with cold water.
Wash the kale in water. Stir the leaves gently to remove loose stains. Use clean fingers to remove stains from the leaves.
Use kitchen towel to dry the leaves. Or you can put the kale in a salad spinner to remove the moisture.
Place dry paper towels in a zipper bag. Place the kale in the bag and seal.
