Pillow Construction

Pillowcase made of 88% polyester, 3% nylon, and 9% spandex mesh. I call it a breathing pillowcase. The thin fabric is elastic and fits the shape of the pillow core. Breathable holes increase air circulation and prevent sweating. Paired with an equally breathable mesh, it prevents heat build-up. Hot sleepers will love it.

Purple Pillow's core

The core still uses the famous Purple technology. Purple mesh (super-elastic polymer) provides support for your shoulders and neck, maximizing pressure relief. It feels soft and bouncy like jelly. Unlike traditional down pillows, your head won’t sink completely into it.

Do you think it is very similar to the Purple Harmony Pillw? But it is adjustable. The two Adjustable Pillow Boosters are 0.5 inches and 1 inch respectively. You can add one or two height boosters to adjust the height to your liking. Still not high enough? Purple sells height boosters separately.

Test Performance

Durability

Only the cover of this pillow is machine washable. The pillowcase that has been machine washed five times is still in good condition and has not deformed. The long-lasting elasticity can firmly fix the pillow core and ensure the stability of the entire pillow.

Comfort And Support

It is soft. It is supported. To be honest, I have never come across this material. Different from down pillows and memory foam pillows, it brings me a whole new experience. It is very soft when pressed by hand. But when I lay down, I could clearly feel it dragging my neck.

Shape Retention

The pillow did not sag or deform after being put under 20 pounds of weight overnight. It can be seen that the elasticity of the purple mesh is really good. That’s why no matter how I turn over, it changes according to my posture. Although it’s a bit pricey, the solid core ensures long-term use.

Odors

The smell is not noticeable after unpacking. You can smell a faint chemical smell when you get close to the pillow. Don’t worry, the smell will disappear after a day of sitting.

Temperature Regulation

In terms of heat dissipation, Purple Pillow performs very cool. That’s thanks to a moisture-wicking pillowcase and ventilated purple mesh. Massive airflow passes through the pillow, giving you a sweat-free night.

Sleeping Style

You have four heights to choose from. It’s 3 inches without booster. Adding a 0.5-inch booster makes it 3.5 inches. Add a 1-inch booster to get 4 inches. Both boosters add up to 4.5 inches.

I find it really good for back sleepers. 3 inches of loft is just right for me. I like the solid feel, but also the softness. The head does not move and is in line with my cervical vertebrae. If you have a larger body, you can also increase the thickness by adding a boss.

Unfortunately, it’s not suitable for me to sleep on my side. Its support is sufficient, there is no doubt about it. Strangely, there is a gap between the side of my face and my shoulders. At first I thought the loft was too low (a booster had already been added), so I added another booster. But this was too high for me. I guess its square shape just doesn’t suit me.

Eric doesn’t think it’s suitable for stomach sleeping. The thickness of 3 inches is appropriate, not soft enough. Purple Pillow has some support. Stomach sleepers have higher requirements for softness.

April, a side sleeper, finds it a good choice. She didn’t feel any discomfort. The 3.5-inch loft is perfect for her. Everyone’s body shape is different, and she’s a little smaller than me (103 pounds), so the experience of sleeping on her side is also different.

Final Verdict

Purple Pillow’s special purple mesh is for those willing to try new materials. The support of the mesh can effectively soothe tired muscles. Conversely, if like me you prefer traditional pillows (fluffy, sinking feel), this is not the pillow for you. I thought it was a little hard after sleeping for a long time. Side sleepers find it average. You can try before making your choice. Back sleepers, look here! You’ll love it. It can help you maintain the most correct sleeping posture. As for stomach sleepers, you may want to look at other pillows. This one isn’t for you.
