The weighted blanket’s bulk comes from the filling of non-toxic glass sand. The glass sand is evenly packed into stitched pockets and is more breathable than most plastic beads. The inner blanket shell is made of microfiber, which is soft and comfortable to the touch. This means you can also sleep directly under it.
The weighted blanket also comes with a removable protective cover or duvet cover. Hush calls it a super soft “mink” threaded case. Yes, it does look plush. The inner blanket is connected by a zipper and duvet covert and is removable for cleaning. If you feel cold, use it with a plush cover.

The inner blanket that holds the glass sand is sewn with many small squares. These square pockets are smaller than most weighted blankets, ensuring the filling is evenly distributed. The down cover is removable and machine washable, effectively slowing down the wear of the inner blanket. The quality of the filling and cover both help extend the life of your weighted blanket.

Hush officially recommends choosing a weighted blanket that weighs 10% of your own weight or the total weight of your partner. If you weigh 100 pounds, you’d be better off choosing a 10-pound weighted blanket. Fortunately, Hush classic weighted blanket offers 6 weight options from 12-35 pounds. The one I tested was a 15 lb. blanket, which is an enjoyable level for me.

I like the velvety feel of the duvet cover. After winter, the temperature is lower, and it is very warm to snuggle under a weighted blanket. If you’re sensitive to the cold, place a blanket on top of your duvet. Conversely, hot sleepers can remove the duvet cover and cover it only with the inner blanket. When sleeping, the glass sand inside will not make a rustling sound. The entire blanket evenly covered the body, bringing a comforting pressure.

Plush products are the easiest to shed, so you probably don’t want to see black lint on your white clothes. Fortunately, we machine washed the duvet cover 5 times and it didn’t shed any lint. The inner blanket can only be hand washed or spot cleaned.

If you are someone who is afraid of cold like me, then Hush classic weighted blanket is suitable. The blanket with duvet cover has better warmth retention. If you are a hot sleeper, it is recommended to remove the duvet cover. Overall, the feel is neutral.
