Bearaby Weighted Blanket Review – Does It Work?

I’ve long heard that weighted blankets can improve sleep. But since I don’t like the glass beads and plastic fillings, I haven’t tried it. Until my friend recommended Bearaby weighted blanket to me, I changed my mind. Unlike traditional weighted blankets, it has no padding. This surprised me. Are you interested? Me too! Please read on.

Bearaby cotton napper is made from 95% organic cotton and 5% spandex. It’s unique and doesn’t contain any other fillers. Its weight comes from what it is – thick yarn fabric. The blanket is handwoven. Spread it open and you’ll see lots of little holes. I guess this is good news for hot sleepers.

Cotton napper is available in three weights: 10, 15, and 20 pounds. The official recommendation is to choose a weighted blanket with 10% of our own weight. If you weigh 100 pounds, you’d be better off choosing a 10-pound weighted blanket. To be honest, this isn’t very friendly to thinner people. After all, the lightest option is 10 pounds.

Test Performance

I bought a 15-pound cotton napper in moonstone grey. Bearaby claims that the weighted blanket can increase serotonin and melatonin and improve sleep quality. Is it really that good? I doubt it. So I tried sleeping on it for a week and summarized its performance in terms of durability, softness, temperature regulation, etc. Let’s take a look!

Softness

95% long-staple cotton gives the blanket a very soft touch. I’m relatively satisfied with its comfort. It’s a full weighted blanket in a thick knit. The overall pressure was evenly distributed, and I felt like I was wrapped in a cocoon. Organic cotton feels like an old T-shirt. There was no discomfort at all when it touched my cheek. I feel safe sleeping in it.

Durability

You can feel the heavy weight of the blanket when you hold it in your hand. In fact, its quality is not bad either. The thick yarn is almost cotton. And each strand of yarn is about 1 inch in diameter. Since it does not contain glass or plastic beads, there is no need to worry about the filling leaking.

Temperature Regulation

The knitted form means it’s destined not to trap heat. The small holes in the weighted blanket provide ventilation, which is beneficial for hot sleepers. Conversely, people who are afraid of the cold may need an extra blanket to stay warm.

Sleep Improvement

On this note, it has some effect but not significantly. It was like I was in a warm, cozy embrace. 5% spandex adds some elasticity and creates a wrapped feeling. The right amount of weight rests on my body and reduces the amount of turning I have to do during the night. This might help my sleep. It would be better if it had a lighter weight option. The 10 pound weight makes it feel a little bulky to me.

How To Clean

Good news, cotton napper is completely machine washable. (Hand washing a blanket that thick is a nightmare) We just threw it in the washing machine and waited. In addition, the pure cotton material of the blanket will become softer with each wash.

Should You Try It?

Hot sleepers – Bearaby weighted blanket fits your needs. Good air circulation won’t make you sweat, keeping you cool all night long.

People who don’t like stuffed blankets – If you need a weighted blanket but don’t like the glass beads or plastic beads in it, then cotton napper is for you. It is a pure cotton weighted blanket with no other fillers.

If you are underweight – you need to consider this. The lightest blanket weighs 10 pounds. My weight is about 100 pounds, but it’s a bit heavy for me. Coupled with the recent cooling, I want to cover myself with two blankets. I gave up, it would have been heavier.

If you’re on a budget – the smallest model of the weighted blanket costs $199. The price is indeed a bit expensive. If you don’t replace it often, it’s worth the price. Because its quality can last for many years.
